At Mitsubishi Electric, we believe that sustainable organisations that succeed over the longer term truly care for their people. We believe that to contribute and live sustainable, healthy and happy lives our People need to enjoy their time at work and at home.
That is why Mitsubishi Electric Europe UK Branch have introduced a new wellbeing programme called IKIGAI. With its origins in Japanese culture, 'Ikigai' is considered the key to a long and meaningful life; focused on what makes you happy, makes you get up in the morning and keeps you going every day.
We have introduced a series of events for colleagues based on six pillars of wellbeing: mind, body, give, connect, learn and money.
To celebrate and promote the programme we held a Happiness at Work Week in September 2023. This involved 445 employees taking part in activities such as an online session, and seminars on healthy eating and making the most of your money. We also had an inspiring presentation from the Special Olympic Great Britain team about the importance of community.

Added to that, we held a successful virtual “coffee, cake and catch up” session with colleagues dialling in from across the UK and raising over £750 for Macmillan Cancer in the process.
Andrea Huckett, Head of People said; “Mitsubishi Electric Europe UK Branch is proud to support our People across all of the pillars of our IKIGAI programme. We hope this helps them to go on to support their own families and communities and demonstrates our commitment to creating a great place to work.”
