The Demo Day of the ReDI School NRW

Germany / Education

18 December 2023

On 29th June 2023, the students of the ReDI School spring semester presented their final projects as part of the Demo Day at the German Branch in Ratingen. ReDI School is a non-governmental organisation, which is independent and mostly internationally oriented. The name ReDI School is derived from "Readiness for Digital Integration".

Since 2015, the aim of the ReDI School has been to give migrants and refugees the opportunity to take part in highly qualified programming and computer courses free of charge. Alongside this, students are also offered the chance to take part in career and mentoring groups, all in cooperation with technology companies, start-ups and leading companies from the digital industry.

At the Demo Day, term papers and success stories are presented. By the way, some former students are now working in well-known companies and this encourages those who are still looking for a job. Since 2021, Mitsubishi Electric has been supporting the ReDI School in North Rhine-Westphalia (NRW) in providing students with digital training. In the spring semester of 2022, the Internet of Things (IoT) course was offered for the first time. As part of this, several colleagues from Mitsubishi Electric volunteered as lecturers at the ReDI School.

The Demo Day 2023 was opened by Takuya Furukawa, Head of the ReDI School NRW, and then Andreas Wagner, President of the German Branch, addressed his words of welcome to everyone on site and the viewers of the livestream. In addition to the representatives of the ReDI School, other speakers from different companies and institutions were also present and could share their knowledge with the students during the panel discussion. This was followed by the students' presentations, which were evaluated by a jury. The projects of the Digital Career Programme cover a wide range of focal points such as machine learning, cloud computing or data analytics.

Around 80 guests were present on site and for all those interested who could not be there, the entire event was streamed and recorded live via the YouTube channel of the ReDI School.
