Many people can be affected by poverty and homelessness through no fault of their own. With a Christmas donation of 10,000 euros on 14 December 2023, the Living Environment Systems division from Mitsubishi Electric Europe German Branch supported the "gutenachtbus" (Good Night Bus) project in the Düsseldorf area. This project aims to close a gap in the care of homeless people. At night in particular, they are currently helplessly exposed to the winter cold and the growing aggression on the streets.

This is precisely where the "gutenachtbus" comes in as a mobile dining and consultation room, which is also used to transport people in emergencies. Under the direction of a social worker and with the help of over 80 volunteers, the gutenachtbus visits evening meeting places for homeless people 6 days a week, all year round. In addition to a warm meal and clean clothes, the focus is also on conversations, which many of those affected particularly look forward to. The team currently distributes around 100 cups of hot coffee, sandwiches and more than 30 liters of soup night after night. Blankets, sleeping bags and toiletries are also always on board and are distributed to those in need.
