On the occasion of the Special Olympics World Games in 2023, Mitsubishi Electric is supporting four athletes by joining the "Adopt a Champion^®" initiative. This allowed the Italian athletes in June to fly to Berlin and participate in the Special Olympics World Games, the largest inclusive sports event in the world.

Mitsubishi Electric's participation in this initiative was an entirely spontaneous and natural decision, given the commitment that the Italian subsidiary has had to Special Olympics since 2010. The company supports the association in its various initiatives in Italy and around the world, including through the active participation of its employees who work as volunteers at the games.

Our four athletes are Daniele, who competed in basketball, and Martina, who competed in volleyball. They were joined by Simone, a multiple gymnastics medallist, and Antonello, a brilliant footballer. The boys worked with determination to be ready for this important appointment, becoming aware of their own abilities and facing this journey with courage and willpower. Mitsubishi Electric met two of them at its headquarters in Vimercate, organising a special event.

Daniele and Martina met with the company management and all the people who have supported Special Olympics athletes over the years, telling them what it means to be able to participate in these games, the excitement that comes with it and the great commitment it takes to show that with strength you can go far.
