Green Class supported by Mitsubishi Electric
A piece of our heart is in Africa. In Korogocho, Kenya to be precise. This is the location of the 'Alice School for Children', which our company has been working with for 11 years. This is where the children of the 'Green Class 2' are based. These children started the 2023 school year at the end of January, a significant milestone in an area where 60% of high school students have to drop out by the same age. This percentage increases in areas of absolute poverty such as rural areas and slums, where the association has been working for over 15 years.
According to UNESCO and World Bank data, 90% of children in sub-Saharan Africa who complete primary school are still unable to read and write correctly. Taking a child to school is not enough, it must be assured that they will receive a quality education that guides them towards adulthood and entry into the world of work. This and much more, is what Alice School for Children does every day.
Green class in Korogocho
To get to know the situation in which the association operates, but also to meet some of the children benefitting, one of our colleagues went to Korogocho to visit the school and discover the projects developed in the area. She met with many children and adolescents who have access to education, feel protected and cared for every day, and whose future makes them less afraid. The aim of Alice for Children, together with Mitsubishi Electric, is to guide these children on a structured and comprehensive path so that they can receive a quality education to face a better future.
